My friend laughingirl will be participating in the 2004 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this fall -- a walk of 39 blister-inducing but incredibly worthy miles. She's set herself a goal of raising $10,000 for this cause, and just one of the ways she's doing this is by auctioning a number of celebrity-themed items she's collected while living in New York.
There are two items that I know LOTR fans will be really interested in.
The first is a Gollum poster, signed by Andy Serkis. The inscription reads: "Thank you for your precious donation to The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Andy Serkis" You can see the inscription (and bid on this item) at Lisa's auction page: http://www.pricefire.com/auction/XcAPVi
(You can see the generic version of the poster at http://film-movie-posters.junglewalk.co
The second item is one of the exclusive desk pieces (with actual film frames from all three films of the Lord of the Rings trilogy) from the Trilogy Tuesday showings last December. You can see the desk piece at: http://www.pricefire.com/auction/XcAPVi
Bidding starts at just $25, and Lisa will pay postage within the US or Canada. (There's nothing to stop anyone from bidding from overseas, she just can't afford to cover the postage to Nepal!)
Please help spread the word about these auctions! Feel free to post this in your own journal, or to forward the information to any email lists you think would be interested in helping out.
